My teaching and research interests combine a love of outdoor adventure and my care and concern for the environment. My research program focuses on the connections people develop with recreational landscapes, as well as the social and ecological implications of recreation, with particular interest in shared-use landscapes. I am currently involved in undergraduate research exploring recreation expectations in Maine, in work analyzing visitor impacts along the Maine Island Trail, and in research exploring visitor and local sense of place along the Maine Coast.
