Welcome to the UMM Health Center Web Page!

The Health Center is a walk-in clinic offering services to all UMM students and employees. A Registered Nurse, Board Certified in College Health, staffs the clinic. Services are free of charge.

The Health Center is a branch of the Office of Student Life, located in Dorward Hall, Room #115.

The Health Center is open the following times:

  • Tuesday: 9:00am-5:00pm
  • Wednesday: 8:00am-2:00pm
  • Thursday: 8:00am-2:00pm

Emergencies
What constitutes an emergency is a matter of judgment. Time is frequently of the essence, and if there is any doubt, an ambulance should be called for immediate transportation of the student to Down East Community Hospital in Machias - Call 911 for ambulance service. Campus Security can be reached at 255-1450 (office) or 263-9315 (cell).

Confidentiality
Confidentiality of the content of any medical visits, counseling sessions, and written medical records is the right of the patient. Health-care professionals are bound to observe this right and to release information only at the request of the patient. However, when a person is critically ill or unconscious, medical personnel, acting in the patient's best interest, may transmit information to the immediate family. In addition, care-givers may need to disregard confidentiality temporarily when a person's behavior threatens his or her life or that of another person. Otherwise, medical records at the University of Maine at Machias are kept in strictest confidence.
